Experience and Education
Master’s degree in nursing, documentation of completion ofaccredited Advanced Practice Education Program, and three (3) years generalnursing experience, required. Licensure and/or certification as RegisteredNurse and an Advanced Practice Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for State ofTexas, and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accreditedby the American Heart Association (AHA), also required. Previous clinicalresearch experience highly desirable.

Job Duties
1. Obtains and interprets laboratory tests according todepartmental and research protocols.
2. May perform physical exams according to departmental andresearch protocols.
3. Develops and implements patient management plans,following nursing processes and procedures identified in standing orders and inkeeping with research protocols.
4. Recognizes deviations from normal in-body systems andrefers to appropriate medical/social resources.
5. Initiates and manages research-related healthcare services.
6. Provides relevant counseling and education to patients andsignificant others within role limitations.
7. Facilitates teamwork through planned group processes, i.e.workshops, seminars, and staff meetings.
8. Duties performed may include one or more of the followingcore functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b)Directly interacting with or caring for human-subject research participants;(c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patientrecords (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining,modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.

**Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
