Salary Negotiable

Shift: 1st shift, rotating on-call responsibilities during holidays and weekends

Experience and Education

Bachelor or master degree in science, medical technology or related field and CHS (ABHI) certification OR
Bachelor or master degree in science, medical technology or related field and 8 years of experience in histocompatibility testing. OR
Doctoral degree in science or related field and 2 years of experience in histocompatibility testing and 2 yr of experience in immunology or related field.

Supervisory level experience is recommended.

Job Duties

Supervises technologists & other laboratory personnel for on-call and day-to-day activities for solid organ and bone marrow transplantation.
Participates in on call supervisory duties & approves preliminary STAT reports for night and weekend transplants and consults with director as needed.
Reviews clinical data and forwards results to the director for a final report approval for all clinical tests.
Performs advanced histocompatibility testing for solid organ and bone marrow testing. Supervises technologists and other personnel with lower titles on day-to-day laboratory activities.
Recognizes and troubleshoots moderate/high complexity technical issues and implements corrective actions.
Actively participates in implementation of QA/QC procedures under the direction of the Technical Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
Support Quality Management initiative according to UTSW and Clinical Laboratory Services Quality Programs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager or director such as writing of SOP and equipment validation.
Provides direct supervision to group of Research Assistants and/or Research Technicians. Provides training with respect to current testing methods in cross matching, antibody screening, and HLA typing. Assists supervisor with writing of protocols and assay development.
