Experience and Education

Associate's degree or five (5) years of experience in electronic technology.

Job Duties

Acts as Lead Biomedical Technician by assisting lower level employees with more complex or difficult tasks. Is perceived as the subject matter expert in biomedical problem determination, maintenance, and repair.

Installs, repairs, and maintains all clinical biomedical equipment and instrumentation used for the diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, or care of patients.

Provides a program for the acceptance, maintenance, safety, performance verification, and efficiency of biomedical equipment used for patient care.
Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment. Makes sensitivity, selectivity, and accuaracy measurements.

Analyzes electronic equipment for cause of failure, isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts.

Assists with the design and construction of cables, adapters, and other interfacing equipment.

Monitors all service contracts covering patient-related equipment.

Maintains required records, reports, and statistics relative to biomedical equipment. Maintains professional growth and technical knowledge through seminars, conferences and other educational forums. Attends required meetings.

Develops strategic planning and goals and communicates vision and direction for department and strategy for achieving these goals. Develops standards for, and ensures maintenance of departmental records.

Supervises and guides departmental staff through direct supervision, setting individual performance goals, clarification of responsibilities, identification of continuing education needs and regular communication.

Manages Human Resource functions of department to ensure University Hospital Human Resource policy and procedures.

Develops and maintains management information reports that monitor inventory levels and usages in interactive manner. Prepares ongoing reports such as temperature monitoring and asset tracking and departmental status reports for executive staff. Develops and monitors workload and quality indicators for all Biomed functions. Develops, monitors and justifies Biomed departmental operating and capital budgets. Performs other related duties assigned or requested.
