Bachelors degree in business, computer science, or related field or experience in lieu of a degree required. Minimum ten years technical management experience and significant accomplishment in complex organizations, preferably in an academic medical center environment.

Job Duties

Works under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer in managing the core network, WAN, internet, DAS, wireless and telephony infrastructure of UT Southwestern Medical Center.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure clear and timely communication of RCAs, project status, strategic plans and costs.
  • Manage and establish priorities for maintenance, design, development and analysis of entire infrastructure systems inclusive of LANs, WANs, internet, telephony, cellular, and wireless implementations.
  • Provide intranet and internet access for all campus services and resources.
  • Oversee design, install and repair of network, cellular, and voice infrastructure.
  • Oversee administration of firewall and VPN services.
  • Ensure service levels, resource efficiencies and resilience expectations are met.
  • Ensure partnership within the division and other areas of UT Southwestern.
  • Stay current with new and developing voice and network technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain technical voice and network standards and promote adherence to such standards.
  • Develop and maintain short and long term voice and network technology strategies that align with the broader objectives of IT and UT Southwestern.
  • Ensure IT construction standards are developed and maintained to ensure an efficient, cost-effective, and future-ready infrastructure is in place.
  • Develop, implement, and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans in coordination with the IT Disaster Recovery manager.
  • Direct and coach managerial and professional staff to ensure retention of top talent that is dedicated to providing effective and efficient technology innovations and services.
  • Monitor and update the divisions organization structure to ensure effective delivery of infrastructure services.
  • Provide input into individual performance goals and evaluations of managers and staff to align with organizational objectives.
  • Manage voice and network infrastructure and technology acquisitions.
  • Work closely with department and campus leadership to ensure financial stability of voice and network operations, to include identifying new ways to support financial goals.
  • Develop and report key performance indicators and act upon such information as needed.
  • Liaise with the Chief Information Security Officer to implement relevant controls within the division.
  • Manage vendor relationships, to include negotiating favorable terms and ensuring accountability for meeting timelines, requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
