Experience and Education

Current certification by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) as a Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) or a Bachelor's degree in a related field and six (6) years progressively responsible animal facility operation experience, including two (2) years in supervisory capacity are required.

Job Duties

  • Supervise areas of the ARC to include all animal facilities, warehouse, and office and support areas division.
  • Assist Director on creating and analyzing various reports and projects.
  • Relieve Director of wide variety of internal duties and large volume of decisions, which require thorough understanding of ARC operations.
  • Complete and coordinate complex projects and reports, which may require significant contact with other departments and outside organizations.
  • Recommend changes to operational policies of the ARC facilities and reviews progress.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures (including University, State and Federal).
  • Supervise subordinate managers.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
