Additional Information:This position will be responsible to manage a staff of Registration Representatives and 2 Supervisors who provide patient bedside registration in a very active Emergency Department with 24/7 hours of operation. The position will have primary responsibility for transitioning the ED Reg Team into a new physical work space and implementing a new registration process during the first few months on the job. Ongoing responsibilities include employee performance and coaching oversight and reporting, collaborating with leaders in Patient Access Services as well as the hospital at large to improve patient throughput and satisfaction and the consistent demonstration of leadership and initiative in responding to changing needs of patients, visitors, and staff. Job requires professional level communication and judgment in all circumstances. Work hours variable based on the needs of the department as well as demands of the position as directed by leadership.

Experience and Education
Licensed Vocational Nurse or Associates degree and two (2) or more years management or supervisory experience in admitting, bed control, scheduling and insurance verification; OR five years experience as stated above is required.
Provides management, direction, development and guidance to staff in roles of scheduling, insurance verification, patient pre- registration, and financial counseling. Promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff and fosters environment of shared decision-making.
Delegates and holds staff accountable. Addresses and implements changes impacting various processes of intake area of Patient Access department. Leads and motivates staff to achieve goals and objectives. Selects, trains, recognizes performance evaluations and disciplinary actions for department staff.
Oversees employee timecards and time and attendance issues. Oversees department schedule and assures staff coverage for all shifts.
Generates, distributes and maintains relevant department reports. Tracks key performance indicators as designed by Director.
Assures that quality assurance monitoring is conducted on data produced by department staff, assuring accuracy, thoroughness and compliance.
Works in collaborative manner with peers and other hospital departments. Attends meetings and actively participates.
Handles patient complaints in timely and professional manner. Promotes excellent customer service and takes appropriate action based on survey results.
Maintains current policies and procedures.
Assures compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations and assists Director with JCAHO preparation.
